Town Information Pertaining to Act 377
2013 Wisconsin Act 377 sets weight and length limits for Implements of Husbandry (IoH) and Agricultural Commercial Motor Vehicles (Ag CMVs) and allows local government officials to pass resolutions or ordinances regarding the maximum gross vehicle and axle weight limits for IoH and Ag CMVs operating upon roads under their jurisdiction. The Town of Tainter chose to implement Option A under Act 377 which allows the Town to post limits on roads where pavement is not designed to carry heavier loads, such as residential areas, or where pavement is prematurely deteriorating. In the Town of Tainter,
Permitting authorities for the Town of Tainter are the Town Patrollman or any Town Board Member.
2013 Wisconsin Act 377 created a free permit for IoH and Ag CMV exceeding the new weight and length limits (towns are not allowed to create their own permits). The permits must be obtained from the maintaining authority (municipality, town, county, state) of the roads to be operated upon. WisDOT created the application which will be used by all maintaining road authorities that require a permit to operate over the new weight and length limits. TheWisDOT permit application form can be found here:
