  • NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS: The first half of real estate taxes are due by January 31, 2026 and shall be paid to the Town of Tainter Treasurer, N8150 CTH DG, Colfax, WI 54730. FUTURE DATED CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • Normal tax collection hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The office will be CLOSED on Thursday, December 18 until noon. In addition, the office will be closing at noon on Wednesday, December 24, and December 31 and will be closed on Thursday, December 25, 2025 and January 1, 2026. A drop slot is also located in the front door of the town hall if you wish to drop off your payment after hours.
  • Taxes can be paid online using a credit card or an e-check by clicking here. Additional information on how to make an online payment can be made by clicking here.

  • Burning Permits – Burning permits are required and can be obtained by clicking here.

Non-Tax Payments

Payments for Town of Tainter fees (other than taxes) can now be made using a credit card. A convenience fee of 2.95% for credit and debit cards is charged by our provider with a minimum card fee of $3.95. Application forms are still required to be completed and submitted to the Town of Tainter.

Solid Waste & Recycling

Tainter resident may use either the Colfax or Elk Mound collection sites offered through the Colfax Solid Waste and Recycling program for waste disposal. Click on the Solid Waste & Recycling Management Flyer below for more information.

Dog Licenses

Dog Licenses are due by March 31st (late fees apply April 1st through Dec 31st).

Notice to Taxpayers

PRIOR TO FEB 1ST, tax payments shall be paid to the TOWN OF TAINTER TREASURER. Future dated checks will NOT be accepted.
